Lina Tritschler accompanied her husband to Sumatra in 1889 to the plantation region where the owner of the Villa Patumbah was also based. The young Swiss woman’s letters from the Dutch colony are held in Zurich’s municipal archives.
During the tour of the villa, Karin Beck (Zurich Archives Office) uses passages from these letters and original photos to illustrate the young family’s everyday life, while Judith Schubiger tells stories about the owner Carl Grob.
