Playfully experience Villa Patumbah and use your imagination as you explore the theme of building culture: studios for children and families take place from November to June. But you can also stay busy and entertained on your own, such as by reading in the children’s book corner or trying our puzzle sheets and quiz flyer. All activities are offered in German.

Every first Sunday of the month, May to September (excluding August)
It all fits: the old house, the snake-filled rocks and the crocodile moat. Expedition leader Albert has found Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book in the library of the old villa and in it the story of the brave mongoose Rikki Tikki Tavi. Albert is convinced that the great battle with the cobra took place here in the Patumbah jungle. Tigers, lions and snakes in Patumbah Park? With Albert we experience the historic park from a surprising new perspective. An adventuresome theatre tour in the park, for families with children from approx. 6 years. Date: /

First Sunday of every month, October to April
From Sumatra and the exotic scents of paradise – to dream house and demolition object. With the “eternal butler” Johann, we follow in the footsteps of the eventful history of Patumbah Park and its villa. Why does the house have this strange name? What’s the source of all this splendour and who lived here? “Johann” can tell us all about it, having been in the service of the villa since 1885. A theatre tour of the park and villa, including the 2nd floor with the Asian gallery, for young and old from approx. 6 years. Date: /

Children’s birthday parties
Invite your friends on a jungle tour through Patumbah Park! An actor in the role of expedition leader Albert will take you through the park along secret paths and share the story of the brave mongoose Rikki Tikki Tavi. Afterwards you can have your own picnic or cake in the park.

Dates: Monday–Friday, 9am–4:30pm / Saturday, 2–4:30pm / Sunday, 12 noon–4:30pm, from May until the autumn holidays.

Age: 6–10 years
Number of places: 10 to max. 25 people, at least one accompanying adult required.
Costs: CHF 350. Any admissions to the Swiss Heritage Center (exhibitions/villa) will be charged in addition.

Practical information: if the weather is uncertain, we provide a table under the covered veranda by prior arrangement, on Saturdays and Sundays from 30 minutes before the museum opens. Toilet facilities are available at Villa Patumbah. The children’s birthday party takes place entirely in the park, in any weather, and lasts no later than 5pm when the museum closes.

Every Saturday and Sunday (during opening hours)
Lea, Luc and Miro are the Swiss Heritage Society sleuths. Set off with them and the detective kit through the Riesbach district and discover the many special buildings in the vicinity of the villa. Solving all the tasks requires a sharp and attentive eye. Drop off the answer sheet at the Swiss Heritage Center or send it in by post and receive a prize!
